“I mean doesn’t it take months to write a book? And then there are all those pages being tossed into the waste basket and Writers Block and Power cuts in the winter and so on… Ever tried to write in the dark? NO… this doesn’t sound like such a good idea after all. Sorry gotta go pick up the kids from Paintball class! Does this sound familiar? Being the Author of an E Book doesn’t necessarily mean you have to glue yourself to your office seat—there are several alternatives to actually physically typing the Manuscript. We’ll leave the discussion of these magical mystery tools for another article. And no you don’t have to major in telepathy or become a hypnotist; and even if you did I am sure there is an E Book out there just waiting for you.

There are probably still some weird niches out there waiting to be discovered and unleashed on an unsuspecting public in E Book format!

OK Here’s the deal…if you want to take advantage of the unlimited possibilities of using your newfound E Book strategies to further your business before you reach the grand old age of 108 then time is of the essence! An e book in the hand is worth 365 in your head believe me. I should know.

So what’s required to get the ideas and information out of your head and onto your web server. Don’t know what a web server is? or even how to get one? Be patient that’s in another article we are not trying to solve all your problems in one teensie weeny article!

What’s required is help from an expert, preferably one who can write and who has heard all the aforementioned problems before so you won’t get away with excuses!

The right mentor will nudge and cajole you so that all that valuable expertise of yours can be shared with an adoring audience and in record time. Shall we say seven days? Well a week sounds a little less intimidating!

“Hey that’s all very well but what about all that techie stuff?…I hear you need a website and a web server and a Merchant account and shed loads of money for those Web designers and…I’m dizzy …I need a Náp!”

Forget the techie stuff for now. That’ll all slot into place once you have the book written. I mean does a 747 Pilot need to know every last detail of what every passenger had for breakfast to get to the destination safe and sound?
You don’t need to know all this techie stuff at the outset that will come in good time when you have the compilation out of the way. What about the marketing? What do we do about that?

OK let’s stop here and give ourselves a well earned break for a coffee and see if there are any experts out there in Website land who have been through all this torture and lived to tell the tale.

Better still lets crank up the PC right now and go search for someone who really talks the talk and walks the walk. Gotta be an E Book out there to tell us how to do it all without having to lock ourselves away from the world for a whole year while we learn all this stuff. So lets get searchin’n’clickin and see what we come up with OK?

You may be asking how do I know? Well as a Newbie Squidlet with just a few Lenses to my Cave I can only surmise that this could be the case.

This is a terrific site for easy uploading of content to your Lens(or page) and any description here would not do it justice so head on over to the Squid Tank and see for yourself.

I warn you people that you could find it addictive, pretty much on the same lines as anything to do with Social Media. But the more exposure you have to your ideas and thoughts across the Web the more authority you will garner. The links and an increase in Visitors to your Blog or main site certainly won’t do you any harm either.

We’ve been messing around with Blogs(mostly free hosted) and our main web site for Learner Drivers for a number of years so it’s time to get serious and not only chart the progress but give some hopefully valuable advice to those of you starting out.

Any thing new in Life is usually not so easy and often full of disappointments. Getting to grips with a new Blog and turning it into something of value to visitors is not an overnight exercise.

We’ve been mostly absent from this blog since it was set up due to Domestic distractions so it is a work in progress.If you have any pressing questions (and who hasn’t ?) we’d love to here from you.

We’ve all heard the expression everyone has a book inside them..you have haven’t you?

Well it’s true, but extracting it from inside you is a tad more exacting than doing the Automatic WordPress update which I have just managed to do! (Exacting and Extracting don’t even think it! I just patented the phrase!)

Some of you are natural born writers and don’t know it yet; others hate to write(that’s ‘coz they can’t spell); others can write (sometimes quite well!) but are lazy and others, myself included, have a predominant procrastination gene! That’s a nice polite way of saying I sure as hell aint lazy!

Here we are in February 2011 and it’s been 18 months since I posted here on this blog which is a complete disgrace and not what was originally intended for this site.

As a paid up,vibrant and totally self sufficient Baby Boomer myself this Blog ‘s purpose is to encourage all of the Baby Boomer persuasion to not only get writing but to get a suitable web presence out in Cyber Space.

Actually Boomers, the pen of this sometime writer has been busy towards the end of last year with writing gigs for other web site owners! It has been the realisation that it is possible to write several articles a day without breaking a sweat that brings me back to this blog and hopefully a long term comittment to help,cajole and generally engage in plenty of Butt-Kicking to all you Technophobes, Procrastinators and General Layabouts

For the writer branching out on the Web there is not a better way to fine tune your writing than checking out the Article Directories and setting yourself a target to submit to a number of them. The difference between posting articles on your blog and on an article Directory is substantial.

Your blog, especially in the early days won’t be getting any traffic so guess what? Nobody will see your stuff except perhaps you and your Granny.

But then again if Granny doesn’t have a computer, which is possible, unless you have trained her how to operate one, then your admirers will be very thin on the ground. Yes I know if you’ve spent a fortune on SEO courses and How to make Money on the Internet rubbish you’ll probably have tried to implement a few strategies that will get you a few visitors. All good character building stuff as your Headmaster used to say!

There’s no free lunch here and a blog will take time to mature rather like a good chateau bottled Bordeaux. We are talking several years here and that assumes you are posting to the blog more than once a year!

Achtung! You are now entering a Restricted Area!

Now to the spectre of Article Directories… there are a gazillion of them out there at the last count and probably, while you are avidly consuming this article, there will be another 100 Directories added online. But lets not get disheartened people there are a few, a very few Article Directories out there that are worth pursuing as a home for your carefully crafted work.

In the excitement of producing my first blog, which got me hooked on learning html, by the way, it seemed to me to be rather a good ruse to knock up a few articles and submit them to about a dozen article directories. Having read that this was an excellent way of getting one’s work published around the globe I sat back with my second pot of Java that day and thought I had cracked the millionaire code.

Three days later with sheets of newly created Analysis and Urls and stuff I sat back and waited for the money to roll in. Of course you’ve noticed in this short resume that there are many aspects I have missed out. That’ll wait for another day!

Imagine my consternation when the first Article to http://ezinearticles.com was returned to me for breaching guidelines. Yes you’ve guessed it… in my enthusiasm I hadn’t read ALL the small print. Not to be put off I corrected the errors and set about writing for a solid week.

The other Directories were good, with varying submission criteria. The debate about Duplicate Content hadn’t really started yet so it didn’t seem a problem to submit the same articles to a dozen sites.

Six years on and after a two year sabbatical, Wrinkly Writer is back and with some dollars (just a few) earned from Web Writing for Blog and Website owners under his belt, he is now equipped to make the transition from (Gee wouldn’t it be Great to be a Writer) to (Hey I am a writer and lets go Shake Rattle and Rock)

What is an E book?-It’s an electronically downloadable file of varying size that can be obtained free (if the author so desires) or can be purchased from the site on which it resides (or more accurately on the Server of the site).

It’s a generic term that generally refers to a book of perhaps 25 pages and upwards of 100, on any subject under the sun, including such unlikely subjects as training your Guinea Pig, Winter Dog Training, or Teaching your Parrot the Rudimentaries of Keyboard dissection! I actually have a friend who would pay handsomely to have her Parrot trained to eat Bird seed instead of Computer Keyboards!

Occasionally you may be lucky enough to stumble on a free e book that runs to 100 or even 200 pages! The author obviously means business don’t you think?

The ever evolving topic of how to Market Online is an area where you will find many free e books, which in their shortened form are usually referred to as reports. A short report or e book is one of the best ways of gaining both recognition as an expert in your niche and as a method of building your subscriber list.

What’s the purpose of building a subscriber list? Isn’t this just so much like hard work?

Well it’s an established fact that, just as in the offline world where a customer browses the goods on sale in a shop window before a buying decision, so web site visitors generally browse around a site several times before making a purchase. If you can position yourself as the Go- To- Person for the best online information in your niche, then you will build your business faster and with better results.

Online purchases 10 or even 5yrs years ago were fraught with difficulties and doubts in the minds of prospective purchasers. Herein lays the value of an e book that can be given away freely once a web site visitor subscribes to your mailing list. The e book is a wonderful trust builder when you share some of your valuable knowledge or expertise. Once you have got your feet wet with your first giveaway reports you’ll be able to build on this foundation by creating a flagship product or even a series of related e books that will boost your bottom line.

As you build trust with your followers so you are getting ever closer to the day when the credit card comes out and the cash register zings!

It’s just not possible to write and publish an e book in only seven days! Or is it? You might be surprised to learn that while it’s not easy to write any book for that matter, with the right tools and the right Road Map it can actually be done in seven days.
